Why Campus Journalism Matters More Than Ever
As a campus journalist, I often ask myself a simple question: why do we write? The answer comes to me every time I walk through my university corridors and see stories waiting to be told—stories of students’ struggles, victories, and voices that often remain unheard.

Campus journalism is not just about covering events or reporting on campus programs. It’s about holding a mirror to our own community. It’s about documenting the everyday lives of students, highlighting issues such as accommodation, mental health, academic challenges, and the freedom to speak.
At a time when misinformation spreads faster than ever, campus journalism acts as a safeguard. We learn to question, to verify, and to narrate with honesty. It helps young journalists grow into responsible voices for society.
But more importantly, campus journalism nurtures empathy. It teaches us that behind every headline, there is a human story—a classmate, a teacher, a staff member whose journey deserves recognition.
That is why I believe campus journalism matters more than ever. Because when we write, we don’t just inform—we create history within our campus walls.
